THE REAPER IS CALLING I am awakened by a dream, petrification as the dark surrounds me A shudder runs along my frame as the truth returns to mind I hear the clock it's striking three, mortification as the hours flow by me I'm clinging to my every breath, I know I'm running out of time Aces and eights in my hand Resigned to the fate that is waiting for me Bracing my mind for what lies in store The hourglass draining its sand Moment of destiny racing toward me Soon I'll be hearing that knock on my door The Reaper is Calling I never thought that it could be, this retribution for my past transgressions I had imagined I was free, but now I see I was a fool As I am peeking through the shade, I see a shadow in the lane behind me There is no hope now for escape, it is the time to pay my due Aces and eights in my hand Resigned to the fate that is waiting for me Bracing my mind for what lies in store The hourglass draining its sand Moment of destiny racing toward me Soon I'll be hearing that knock on my door The Reaper is Calling **************************************************

The Crossing 06:08
THE CROSSING Drowning in a sea of gold, an appetite insatiable What is left to conquer but the sea? Forty ships provisioning to serve the order of the king Lining up like soldiers on the quay To the deep they shall sail A thousand men on an ill-omened quest Ever destined to fail As they make for The Crossing A hardened and sea-worthy crew shoved off in the stormy blue Each condemned to tragic destiny They tumbled on for seven days, the boards all straining at the waves Pounding ran from rudder to the beak Hour by hour they bail A thousand men, in a futile attempt To take hold of their sails As they take to The Crossing Night has fallen, things have worsened yet, water rising for the kill The men all strain to keep their ships afloat, no more buckets to be filled Not an idle hand on deck, the cold Atlantic fills the hold Would any man live to tell the tale, as the deluge takes control? It soon was clear, their fate was sealed, the ocean was their battlefield The frantic men all coming to concede Upon that sea the ships were tossed, til every single man was lost A sacrifice made unto the king’s imperial greed As they break on The Crossing ****************************************

MORNING STAR RISING As I walk in the darkness, with the miles stretching endlessly Is this night never-ending, does it reach through eternity? Then on the horizon, a shimmer of light can be seen Morning Star Rising, the gift of the dawn All of it ever surprising, now the dark night is done Gone and to never return My pace starts to quicken, with my steps moving effortlessly Is there really some respite, from this long painful journey I rest for a moment, but closing my eyes I still see Morning Star Rising, the gift of the dawn All of it ever surprising, now the dark night is done Gone and to never return When hope you have abandoned, when no light is seen And life is the darkest of dreams Take hold of that scintillation, that far distant gleam Your path will shine in its beam Morning Star Rising, the gift of the dawn All of it ever surprising, now the dark night is done Gone and to never return Oh look to the Morning Star, it holds the promise of dawn Now the dark night is gone, gone and to never return **************************************************

THE GREATER GOOD OF MAN You want it all, you want it now, never to bend, never to bow Nobody’s getting in your way Throwing tantrums like a child, a list of grievances compiled You’ll be sure to have your say Everyone is in the same damn situation And we’re all doing what we can To lend a hand is deemed by you capitulation So you spit in my face and do nothing for The Greater Good of Man Spreading lies like a disease, defaming all who disagree Never a moment to be kind Sociopathic to the core, you cannot hide it anymore The narcissism of your mind When it rains you think the clouds are out to get you As if in some malicious plan You play the victim as you step over the dead Then you spit in my face and do nothing for The Greater Good of Man Everyone is in the same damn situation And we’re all doing what we can When it rains you think the clouds are out to get you As if in some malicious plan You play the victim as you step over the dead Then you spit in my face and do nothing for The Greater Good of Man ****************************************************

Let It Rain 04:03
LET IT RAIN Another day is dawning, your mind is filled with dread Your body feels so heavy rising from your bed Nerves are steeling, fight the feeling, push those raw emotions down inside Despite your strongest effort, the pain you cannot hide When you’ve done all you can do, and all resistance has no use Just let it all wash over you ‘Cuz when you fight against the pain, you only start it all again Let It Rain, whoa, Let It Rain You never learned your lesson despite what you’ve been through You’ve been so heavy-handed wrestling with the truth Such insistence on resistance only serves to harden up your heart If you don’t bend, the gales will sure tear you apart When you’ve done all you can do, and all resistance has no use Just let it all wash over you ‘Cuz when you fight against the pain, you only start it all again Let It Rain I pray that you might listen to this naked truth This is some hard-won wisdom from my wasted youth When you’ve done all you can do, and all resistance has no use Just let it all wash over you ‘Cuz when you fight against the pain, you only start it all again Let It Rain *****************************************************

Underdogs 04:49
UNDERDOGS Bet you think I’ve got it made, it sure looks like my shit’s together Here is where I wanna stay, though the road’s been hard It wasn’t handed to me now, I’ve got the scars to prove the lessons Dug myself a ditch too deep, used the steps to climb back out I was crushing all my dreams to pieces, and now I’m burning It’s my time to rise When I was a beaten foe, I held my head up high I gazed at all the wreckage strewn, and looked it straight in the eye I said I’m never going back, and I meant every word I got my train back on track, and gave my critics the bird I was crushing all my dreams to pieces, and now I’m burning It’s my time to rise So, we are the Underdogs Now, it’s my time to fly So, you are the Underdogs, and now it’s your turn to try So, we are the Underdogs Now, it’s my time to fly So, you are the Underdogs, and now it’s your turn to try *****************************************************

NIGHT OF THE HEATHENS Over the hills the West Saxons see the Great Heathen Army arrive Young brother Alfred and his king Aethelred determined that none would survive The fyrdmen rallied to the kinsmen’s cry, trading their plowshares for spears Today they’ll make the Northmen pay for raiding their valleys for years The Night of the Heathens Soon they will clash on the field The Night of the Heathens The swords will be striking the shields The brothers split their armies in twain, with Aethelred stopping to pray The fyrdmen worried as they charged at the Norse, would Alfred be lost in the fray? The Vikings didn’t know Alfred wasn’t alone, they closed in to capture his side Then Aethelred and his well rested men emerged from the fog in full stride The Night of the Heathens The Englishmen came to surround The Night of the Heathens The cries of the Vikings ring loud! Across the hills the good news spread, throughout every valley and town Soon comes the day, they’ll bring those raven banners down To the cold bloody ground On The Night of the Heathens On The Night of the Heathens *********************************************************

TIME STANDS STILL Like a meteor blazing thunder, shooting out of the sky Hold on tight, we're coming at you, to hit you right between the eyes We kept the fires burning, we kept the dream alive Unleashed, from west to east, at breakneck speed Kicking into overdrive Let loose the fires of passion, raging in your core Don't stop til you shake the rafters, right down to the very floor Intoxication building, whipping up inside Hold tight the exhilaration, let us take you on this electric ride Raise your hand! Make a fist up in the air And feel that burning in your heart Time was standing still, but now we've come to tear this place apart! Raise your hand! Make a fist up in the air And feel that burning in your heart Time was standing still, but now we've come to rip this place apart! As Time Stands Still As Time Stands Still As Time Stands… **************************************************

IMMORTAL Life goes on and you hear the songs, they are the markers of time Floods of memories, clear and bright You never know when it’s time for goodbye News comes and it strikes the heart, it always feels like hell when it starts Hard as metal, yet humble inside They lived that way til the day they died, they died As fragile bodies cease to exist, and the soul slips away in the mist They never leave, they stay in our hearts And the stories pass near to far You taught so much with your words and your songs To know the difference from right and wrong The road was long and we all got to ride You made us welcome and let us inside You’ve gone away but your song’s here to stay You’ve become Immortal Body’s gone, legacy carries on You’ll remain Immortal Immortal, Immortal, Immortal You’ve gone away but your song’s here to stay You’ve become Immortal Body’s gone, legacy carries on You’ll remain Immortal Ohhh, you’ll remain Immortal Immortal, you’ll remain Immortal

about

Well known for their high energy live performances, and having supported the likes of FLOTSAM & JETSAM, PRIMAL FEAR, LITA FORD, and more, The Greater Good of Man sees the band distill their captivating sound. Following the departure of vocalist and founding member Brian Garrison, two-time Blues Music Award winner and European Blues Award nominee Lisa Mann stepped into the role. Lisa was by no means a stranger to the world of metal having released her heavy debut album under the pseudonym of WHITE CRONE receiving raving reviews in the underground scene. Despite the pandemic disrupting initial plans, the band have produced an astounding new record. Opening with the enthralling “The Reaper is Calling”, SPLINTERED THRONE bring a high-spirited energy into the deadly track. Channeling their melodic essence, this opening number aptly establishes the mood of the album. The title track, “The Greater Good of Man” delivers bluesy influences with dynamic bass, groove rhythms, and soaring vocals. Yielding a thrilling pace of high-speed riffs, and unrelenting energy, the epic lyrical narrative of “Night of the Heathens” draws the listener into the storytelling. Also included on the album is a moving re-recorded version of the power-ballad “Immortal”.
